The number 6 is a handy number. Six is half a dozen, and a dozen is a very common unit of measure, especially for food. Lots of things come in sixes. If you buy half a dozen eggs, you get six eggs. You can get a half dozen doughnuts or cupcakes or cookies. Every half dozen equals six.
Then there are a number of things that come in a six pack. You can buy soda pop in a six-pack, or packages of gum, or big bags of socks. Sometimes light bulbs are sold in boxes of six.
Pictured here are six carrots. Carrots are usually sold in bundles of about six.
The next time you go to the store, look around for things sold in quantities of six.
